The meaning ICHI 市 translates to marketplace or fair in Japanese. ICHI came to life as TORINO in Downtown Wilmette IL grew as a dine-in restaurant. While we offer a full service dine-in experience at TORINO, we wanted to offer the casual take away / delivery menu at ICHI.
TORINO came from the name of the festival TORINO-ICHI. We did not have to think twice about naming the new concept ICHI. TORINO + ICHI - together we offer a whole variety of Japanese food.
intention behind each menu item
ICHI’s owners have a very personal connection to each menu item. Since ICHI’s menu includes many Japanese comfort foods, they have personal stories stemming from some of their favorite childhood memories attached to the menu items.

Chikako and Tomoko have led the successful TORINO concept in downtown Wilmette. They have now chosen to use their expertise in Japanese cuisine to bring ICHI - a much needed fast casual concept to Wilmette.
